ABSTRACT

While technology factors are the main driver of the booming real estate APP platforms with important implications for user behavior pattern during and post-pandemic contexts, there is a lack of adequate research. In response, this study explores the user behavior pattern of real estate APP platforms to promote user mental health by taking the real estate APP platforms users as the participants based on theory of technology readiness and acceptance model. Data collected from offline surveys are analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results reveal the technology readiness index positively affects individuals' perceived usefulness and satisfaction, ultimately positively affects individuals' continuance intention with real estate APP platforms;satisfaction with real estate APP platforms mediated the relationship between technology readiness index, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and individuals' continuance intention with real estate APP platforms. However, the group comparison finds no significant difference in user behavior patterns by gender. The contribution of this study is to reveal the influence mechanisms of digital technology on users' behavioral patterns toward real estate APP platforms, which can help guide the sustainable development of real estate APP platforms and promote user mental health and wellbeing in the post-COVID era.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThis study aims to examine the factors influencing user satisfaction with unified payment interface (UPI)-based payment systems during the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The study also aimed to examine whether the user satisfaction with UPI-based payment systems during the COVID-19 pandemic will transform into their continuance intention post-COVID-19 pandemic.Design/methodology/approachThe study was performed in three phases, i.e. pre-testing (for developing questionnaire), pilot study (using exploratory factor analysis to ensure unidimensionality) and the main study. The main study was based on the feedback from a sample of 369 internet users who first used the UPI-based payment system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data generated were analysed using the structural equation modelling approach.FindingsThe study findings suggest that the users who are satisfied with UPI-based transactions during the COVID-19 pandemic are likely to continue their use of this payment mode in future. Factors such as post-adoption perceived value, perceived usefulness and post-adoption perceived risk were observed to be key constructs in explaining user satisfaction and continued intention for UPI-based payment systems.Originality/valueThe study is one of the pioneering studies, in the sense that it investigated the continuance intention of UPI-based payment systems, which, surprisingly, did not gain much attention from past researchers.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has adversely affected public access to public green spaces. As a means of interacting with nature, parks and green spaces are an important aspect of residents' daily lives. In this study, the focus is on new digital solutions, such as the experience of painting in virtual natural settings through virtual reality technologies. This study examines factors that affect the user's perceived playfulness and continuance intention to paint in a virtual environment. A total of 732 valid samples were collected through a questionnaire survey, and a theoretical model was developed through structural equation model by analyzing attitude, perceived behavioral control, behavioral intention, continuance intention, and perceived playfulness. Results demonstrate that perceived novelty and perceived sustainability increase the positive attitude of users toward VR painting functions, whereas perceived interactivity and aesthetics have no impact on it within VR painting context. As users use VR painting, they are more concerned about time and money than equipment compatibility. This makes resource facilitating conditions a more influential factor for perceived behavior control than technology facilitating conditions.

ABSTRACT

Shifting to mobile payments from offline payments can be considered as a social distancing measure in times of a pandemic. The COVID-19 outbreak is currently entering its 'endemic' stage;continued usage of mobile-based payment services is thereby warranted as a social distancing mechanism. This could be true in case of any other pandemic/endemic outbreaks like SARS/Nipah virus outbreaks. The current study examines how the 'perceived' health threat posed by COVID-19 and mobile payment service quality (MPSQ) influence consumers' perceived value toward continuous usage of mobile payment services (MPS) in India. In addition, the investigation considers other factors that prompt consumers to continue using the service. Customers, who used mobile payment applications for making cashless transactions during the pandemic, formed the subjects of the study. Data were collected from 720 mobile payment users. The research model integrates the concept of health threat in health belief model to means-end chain model to explain why a customer opts to choose m-payment at times of a pandemic, and what prompts him/her to continue with its usage. The model was empirically tested with structural equation modeling, along with mediation and moderation analysis. It was found that MPSQ, perceived susceptibility, and perceived severity of COVID-19 significantly enhanced consumers' value perceptions regarding MPS, which leads to satisfaction and continuance intention of using the same. In addition, the study also found a significant positive moderating role of consumer involvement on the relationship between perceived health threat, perceived value, and MPSQ. The threat of COVID-19, being an endemic, or occurrence of similar pandemics persists, and adopting contactless transactions via MPS to comply with social distancing norms may improve customer value perceptions that could aid in the persistence of MPS usage. Also, derivation of value perceptions out of the service quality acts as a driver to continuous usage.

ABSTRACT

PurposeAlthough many studies have sought to address the topic of continuance intention among Fintech customers, the reported findings are fragmented. Therefore, the present study proposes a research model that integrates the main constructs involved in Fintech continuance intention.Design/methodology/approachThe current study uses a meta-analytic-based correlation analysis of effect sizes, meta-regression analysis and meta-analytic structural equation modeling, with 247 effect sizes in 69 studies involving 26,140 respondents.FindingsThe results reveal continuance intention is driven by satisfaction and trust, with ease of use and usefulness being antecedents of satisfaction and trust. The authors also found evidence to show satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between ease of use and continuance intention and that trust fully mediates the relationship between ease of use and continuance intention and partially mediates the relationship between usefulness and continuance intention. In addition, the authors found that in Western countries, with higher Human Development Index levels and greater of use of electronic payment, satisfaction has more impact on continuance intention.Practical implicationsFrom a theoretical standpoint, this meta-analytic study has implications for the literature on Fintech by offering an empirical generalization on the strength of the antecedents of Fintech continuance intentions and by testing possible moderators in a wide range of countries and studies. In other words, this study's goal is to broaden the scope of the research. Regarding managerial implications, it is important to listen to user opinions regarding the positive and negative points of their experience with these technologies and take them into consideration when planning improvements. Additionally, the analysis shows the importance of using data from user interaction with technology, obtained, for example, through big data analytics, whereby companies can see how users behave, how much time they spend accessing certain functions and which technological features they use most, and thus seek to improve whatever is needed.Originality/valueThis meta-analytic study advances the understanding of Fintech continuance intentions. Using the proposed approach, it is possible to generate accurate estimates of the effect size of each analyzed antecedent as the meta-analytic method jointly evaluates the results produced by a wide variety of studies performed in different contexts, allowing more accurate conclusions to be drawn.

ABSTRACT

Sharing economy-based services are more prevalent in contemporary society, especially after the covid-19 pandemic. However, from the user's perspective, it is still unclear what factors define the success of sharing economy-based apps. To address this issue, we conducted a study using an integrated theoretical framework that incorporated cognitive load theory, social network theory, and theory of planned behavior. 448 samples were collected from three tourist destinations in India to test the model. The results showed that mobile app user interface, interaction, and social networking would positively impact user satisfaction with sharing economy-based apps. User satisfaction also leads to recommendation and continuance intention. The study findings have several implications and recommendations for future studies on sharing economy apps. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

ABSTRACT

During the COVID-19 pandemic era that began in 2020, there has been a growing trend in the literature to tackle the problem of health stress (HS) for promoting a sense of public health. In turn, this developing area of research has a high level of relevancy linked to business and economic recovery (Cvirik, 2020). Since HS has increased sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic era, there has been a need to further investigate the balance between coping with HS and the positive continuous intention to use mobile health applications (mHealth apps) among the public. This is the first study that takes the Asia-Pacific region as its case study and empirically investigates the validity of extensions based on the theories of expectation confirmation theory (ECT) (Bhattacherjee, 2001) on user continuous behavior relating to mHealth apps during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results reveal that HS as an emotion can positively affect perceived usefulness and satisfaction in relation to the continuous intention to use mHealth apps. The differences between new and frequent users are confirmed. Discussion and implications for practices are provided in the end. (c) 2022 The Authors. ABSTRACT

Mobile messaging apps are currently a popular method in Malaysia for communicating while on the go, owing to its convenience, reliability, and contact-free feature of mobile application. Fueled by mobile internet and smartphone growth, mobile messaging apps have become a strong force in the mobile app sector, offering users an alternative to SMS-based texting paired with social media elements and enhanced features, such as group chats and photo sharing. The study was anchored using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 theory. A survey with 150 respondents and PLS analysis is used to determine the antecedents of mobile application continuance usage during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results revealed that there is an influence in the usage of mobile messaging apps among the younger generation in Malaysian public university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main implication shows that mobile application among young generations in public universities has become popular. The convenience usage of the internet has turned the world into a global village.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Mobile food ordering apps (MFOAs) became more popular, thanks to social distancing regulations during the COVID-19 outbreak. People started to order food using these apps more than usual. As customers seem happy to use these apps, there is always a risk of spreading infection. These facts inevitably shape customer intentions. Therefore, this study aims to empirically assess the MFOA user dining attitudes (DA), e-satisfaction (ES) and continuance intention (CI) regarding the perceived risk (PR) during the COVID-19 pandemic in Türkiye. Design/methodology/approach: This study used structural equation modelling (SEM) in the expectation confirmation theory and technology acceptance model. Data collection instruments were derived from existing literature, and 625 questionnaires were collected via online surveys. The data collection instrument consisted of eight parts that aimed to gather information about participants' demographics, expectation confirmation, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, ES, PR and CI. Findings: Results showed significant relationships between ES, DA, PR and CI. The most remarkable finding is that while ES influences customers to reuse MFOAs, PR causes a decrease in CI. Originality/value: This study model broadened the existing MFOA study models by adding risk factors. Also, it made a valuable contribution to emerging MFOA literature both in Türkiye and the world. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

One of the common practices during the COVID-19 pandemic is to work or study from home. This study aims to reexamine the factors affecting individual continuance intention of e-learning. During the pandemic, via a survey conducted in 2022, we assessed workers' continuance intention of e-learning from different sectors in Taiwan. This research brought motivations as mediators in continuance intention to e-learning. Through the statistical analysis, we identified the mediation effect of motivations based on the self-determination theory. The results show that autonomous motivation facilitates the learners' computer self-efficacy, the quality of the system and content toward continuance intention;controlled motivation could mediate the monetary award in influencing the continuance intention. The internalization of motivation is also an effective mediator. The obtained results not only add new knowledge of what affected the continuance intention of e-learning during the pandemic but also provide guidance for employers to allocate resources to boost e-learning after the pandemic. © 2023 IEEE Computer Society. ABSTRACT

Colleges and universities worldwide have adopted online teaching for short or long periods in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. This study examines the appraisal results of specific techno-stressors related to online instruction and how these appraisal results impact teachers' continuance intention towards online instruction. The investigation is important because it enables university administrators to manage different techno-stressors distinctively and adopt appropriate coping strategies to support online teaching. A research model is developed based on the transactional theory of stress (TTS) and tested empirically with a sample of 201 university teachers in China. The results reveal that (a) work overload is positively associated with university teachers' challenge appraisal but negatively associated with their threat appraisal;(b) invasion of privacy is not significantly associated with challenge or threat appraisal;(c) work–home conflict is positively associated with threat appraisal but negatively associated with challenge appraisal;and (d) challenge appraisal is positively associated with continuance intention, while threat appraisal is negatively associated with continuance intention. Implications for online learning during pandemics are discussed. © 2023, De La Salle University.

ABSTRACT

Various countries have developed contact tracing applications to prevent the spread of COVID-19 outbreaks. For example, Indonesia launched a government surveillance technology named PeduliLindungi as a contact tracing application for COVID-19. This empirical paper aims to assess the explanatory power of the Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM) by adding three new constructs, perceived security, perceived privacy, and effort expectancy, concerning the users' continuance usage of contact tracing applications. A survey instrument was developed for PeduliLindungi application users, with survey participants (N=535) recruited from Indonesia. The study tested the model using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results showed that effort expectancy is the most significant factor in continuance intention mediated by satisfaction. Meanwhile, perceived privacy does not affect continuance intention mediated by satisfaction. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to empirically explore the predictors of e-marketing use continuance intention in the pharmaceutical business to business (B2B) supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: This study adopted survey research strategy, and data were collected from managers dealing with marketing in 127 pharmaceutical firms in Harare Zimbabwe using a self-reported questionnaire. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the hypotheses. Findings: Leadership support and perceived usefulness are significant predictors of e-marketing continuance intentions. The effect of perceived susceptibility and perceived severity on e-marketing use continuance intention was not significant. Perceived usefulness is a positive moderator in the relationship among leadership support, perceived susceptibility and e-marketing use continuance intention. However, the moderating effect of perceived usefulness created a significant but negative relationship between perceived severity and e-marketing use continuance intention. Originality/value: This study provides empirical evidence of the moderating role of perceived usefulness in the relationships between e-marketing continuance intention and its predictors. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic changed the model of the learning process. Online learning became one of the best solutions for many educational institutions, including the University, especially the Faculty of Computer Science, Brawijaya University. The continuance intention factor for using an online learning management system is important to ensure learning sustainability. To understand students' continuance intention this study proposes self determination model as a research model to find the factors affecting students' continuance intention toward online learning management systems. The proposed model is useful for investigating continuance intention factors. The study finds that intrinsic regulation, external regulation, identified regulation, and introjected regulation significantly positive impact on continuance intention in learning management systems. Finally, this study provides suggestions for the Faculty to improve the continuance intention of the student in using an online learning management system. © The 2023 International Conference on Artificial Life and Robotics (ICAROB2023).

ABSTRACT

The constant variation of COVID-19 has intensified the spread and recurrence of the epidemic, and education continues to be hard hit in most countries. The virtual classroom has become the main platform to replace the traditional classroom in the COVID-19 pandemic context. Due to the lack of a comprehensive understanding of college students' perceptions of the platform system, it is essential to explore the factors and mechanisms that influence students' willingness to use virtual classrooms consistently to improve the learning efficiency and optimize the effect of educational communication during the epidemic. This study integrates the Delone and McLean (D&M) information systems (IS) success model, expectation–confirmation model (ECM), and instructor quality factor to construct an operational model, and it used a structural equation model to analyze the 411 valid samples received from online questionnaires. The results reveal that the determinants of college students' perceived usefulness of virtual classrooms are service quality, instructor quality, and confirmation, while system quality has no effect on perceived usefulness in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Secondly, system quality, service quality, and instructor quality are three critical antecedents of confirmation, and perceived usefulness and confirmation positively affect satisfaction. Finally, perceived usefulness and satisfaction directly affect college students' continuance intention. © 2023 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to understand the post-adoption behaviors of mobile health (m-Health) service users during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on the stimulus-organism-response framework, we examined the effects of user personality traits, doctor characteristics, and perceived risks on user continuance intentions and positive word of mouth (WOM) when using m-Health, as mediated by cognitive and emotional trust. The empirical data were collected via an online survey questionnaire from 621 m-Health service users in China and were verified with partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results showed that personal traits and doctor characteristics were positively associated and the perceived risks were negatively associated with both cognitive and emotional trust. Both cognitive and emotional trust significantly influenced users' post-adoption behavioral intentions in terms of continuance intentions and positive WOM, with different magnitudes. This study provides new insights for the promotion of the sustainable development of m-Health businesses after or during the pandemic.

ABSTRACT

While there has been considerable research related to distance learning, there is surprisingly little research into the role stress plays in distance learning. Therefore, in this paper, we investigated two types of stress: distress and eustress. Using a combination of stress theory and the job and demand resources theory, we developed a research model to predict distance learning satisfaction and continuance intentions. Results from 525 full-time students engaging in distance learning indicate general support for our research model. Our findings clearly indicate that 1) both distress and eustress are associated with distance learning continuance intentions, 2) these impacts are mediated by distance learning satisfaction, and 3) distress has a stronger effect than eustress. Our findings can assist advisors and faculty in helping students understand whether distance learning is a good idea for them. © 2022 International Association for Computer Information Systems.

ABSTRACT

As mobile healthcare services entered the public sight with high frequency during the COVID-19 pandemic, patients are increasingly recognizing the effectiveness of mobile medical consultation (MMC). Earlier studies have investigated what influences continuance intention (CI) towards MMC, but few studies have scrutinized it from the perspective of patients' psychological distance. We formulated a framework to examine the psychological factors influencing CI towards MMC by integrating the information systems continuance model and psychological distance theory. The framework was validated using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach and data from 475 MMC users in China. The empirical results revealed that immediacy, telepresence, intimacy, and substitutability were significant predictors of CI, while satisfaction mediated these pathways. Pandemic-induced anxiety positively moderated the effect of immediacy on satisfaction and the effect of satisfaction on CI. Practical implementations for MMC healthcare practitioners, designers, and marketers are drawn.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the continuance intention of using e-government services in Tanzania as well as moderating effects of system interactivity.Design/methodology/approachA research model based on expectancy confirmation model was developed and empirically tested using 213 data collected from e-government services users who were selected using the judgemental sampling technique. The variance-based structural equation modelling technique was used for data analysis using SmartPLS 3.0.FindingsThe results of this study suggest that system interactivity, computer self-efficacy, management support, confirmation, satisfaction and perceived usefulness have a positive and significant influence on continuance intention to use e-government services. Moreover, the findings of this study indicate that system interactivity moderates the influence of perceived usefulness and satisfaction on continuance intention.Originality/valueThis study extends the expectancy confirmation model with system interactivity, management support and computer self-efficacy which are considered as important factors in continuance usage of technology. Furthermore, this study examines the moderating effect of system interactivity on the effects of perceived usefulness and satisfaction on continuance intention.
